Saint Andrew's Swimming Dominates at Berkeley Relays and Tampa Bay Classic

The Saint Andrew’s swimmers took their undefeated records on the road to Tampa and St. Petersburg on Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21 and returned with four team victories. Friday night marked the inaugural Berkeley Relays on that prep school’s Tampa campus with a four team meet that also included Jacksonville Episcopal and Clearwater Central Catholic. The meet design was different than the typical high school meet in that there were five relay races for each gender and an additional three mixed gender relays.

The AquaScots dominated by claiming relay victories in two of three mixed relays, two of five boys relays and sweeping all five girls relay races to total nine team victories in thirteen races.

Final scores:
Girls: 1) SAS 98 2) Berkeley Prep 57 3) Clearwater Central Catholic 49.5 4) Episcopal 41.5
Boys:  1) SAS 73 2) Berkeley Prep 3) Episcopal 57.5 4)Clearwater Central Catholic 47.5

On Saturday morning the team watched the sun rise from the historic North Shore Aquatic Complex waterfront location as one of nineteen private schools competing in the 12th Annual Tampa Bay Classic hosted by Shorecrest and Northside Christian.

Typically one of the best collections of Class 1A Swimming & Diving teams each year, the 2019 edition did not disappoint. When the waves had settled we found our Scots on top of both the girls and boys divisions for the second day in a row.

Individual winners included Emily Trieschmann (200 Freestyle 1:52.21) and Tiago Pereira (50 freestyle 21.61) and relay victories came in the boys 200 freestyle relay in 1:27.39 (Zach Moore 22.08/Tiago Pereira 21.32/Ryan Nordheim 21.76/Seth Berke 22.23) and the girls 400 free relay in 3:38.32 (Emily Trieschmann 53.29/Nicole Casariego 54.48/Gabby Beltrano 57.21/Nicole Aguilar 53.34). Along with those wins we had a host of athletes who found their way into scoring positions to secure the team titles.

Top Five Teams:
Girls: 1) St Andrews Saint 382 2) Trinity 337 3) Berkeley 257 4) Clearwater Central Catholic 214 5) Shorecrest 196
