Take Scots Tunes Home with Debut of Performing Arts Albums - CD Release on May 17
When nationally known artists put together an album, a collection of recorded music tracks, it is not only a product to put into the hands of music lovers, it’s a representation of hard work, skill, and expertise in music. Dominic LaCasse, the Director of Performing Arts, wanted to commemorate Scots hard work and dedication by producing a series of annual CD's, which showcase various Saint Andrew's Upper School ensembles and soloists. Together with the PA faculty and students, he is proud to present this year's new CD release.
Debuting this week is a series of compilations from the 2017-2018 school year. Songs featured on the CD include “Running of the Bulls” by the US Jazz Band, “Coney Island” by the US Tartan Men Singers, and a Vocal Duet called “Do You Love Me” by Noelle Norona ’19 and Alex Watson ’18.
As a bonus, the CD release will feature the piece called “Tartan Tapestries,” commissioned for and performed by the school’s band. “Our plans are to include a QR Code with each CD so that students, families, and members of the SA community can access an online recording of this special piece” offered Lisa Moss, SA Accompanist, and Piano Instructor. Click here to enjoy “Tartan Tapestries” performed by the school band.
In addition to the 2017-18 Performing Arts album, the CD produced in 2016-17 is also now available. A brand new 2019 CD will also be available this June featuring a talented group of Upper School student instrumentalists and vocalists.
The value of the CD project went far beyond recording music and gave students a chance to learn about studio recording. “This project allowed many of our Upper School students to go into a local recording studio to learn about and experience making a studio recording,” said Lisa Moss.
Additional recordings have been done by SA’s sound and recording expert and engineer, Rocco Palermo. The result is CDs which can be provided to proud students and families as well as given to new families as they visit the school community.
The Performing Arts Department looks forward to honoring the accomplishment of creating an album at the Performing Arts CD Release Celebration on Friday, May 17 from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm in the Crangi Foyer at Mariani Great Hall.
