Boys and Girls Tennis Both Win State Championship Titles

The varsity boys and girls tennis teams competed in the FHSAA Class 1A State Championships in Altamonte Springs May 1-3, 2019. The Scots did not disappoint claiming state championship titles for both the boys and girls.

The boys defeated Trinity Prep 4-0 in the first round of the tournament. The Scots then faced Ransom Everglades defeating the Raiders 4-0 to advance to the championship match. The boys met their toughest challenge of the tournament, but defeated St. Stephen's 4-3 to claim the 2019 state championship title. This is the third state tile for the school on the boys' side winning previously in 1990 and 2012.

The girls won their fourth consecutive state championship title (the school's eighth overall title for the girls) defeating Community School 4-1 in the championship match. The girls faced The Geneva School in the first round winning 4-0. The Scots then faced Carrollton in the state semifinals defeating them 4-1 in what would be their toughest match of the tournament.

Sophomore Sara Snyder won the overall individual state title competing at the #1 singles position. Sara teamed up with sophomore Izzy Forster to win the overall doubles title at the #1 doubles position. Sophomore Jacob Lowen advanced all the way to the final match of the individual singles title finishing runner-up at the #1 position.

Congratulations to Coach Reid Rafter and Coach Beth Daub and to both the boys and girls teams on an amazing run this season. Go Scots!
