Boys Basketball Claims District Championship Title

In front of a standing room only crowd, the Saint Andrew’s Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated Coral Springs Charter 67-58 in the Class 5A District 12 championship game.

The Scots top scorer for the game was Sophomore Josh Minott with 21 points, while Junior Yussif Basa-Ama kicked in with 19, to go along with his 8 rebounds and 6 blocks.

The tempo of the game, however, was controlled by Senior point guard Alejandro Ralat.  Ralat was methodical in breaking Charter’s press, and consistently distributed the ball to his open teammates.  Ralat’s poise throughout the game, and particularly down the stretch, is something Hall of Fame Coach John O’Connell has come to rely upon.  “In my estimation, Alejandro is the best point guard in the area”, said O’Connell after Friday night’s victory.

Saint Andrew’s will host Cardinal Newman in a Regional Quarterfinal game on Thursday night, February 21 at 7:00 PM in the Scott Family
Gymnasium.
