Awe-Inspiring Art

With the support of the Annual Fund, Scots Sculpt, Glaze, and Fire Awe-Inspiring Art!

In the fully equipped design studios at SA, students explore various art techniques including sculpture. Techniques include modeling in plasticine, wire structures, paper as a sculpture medium, wood construction, relief carving, and stone carving in the round. Thanks in part to the Annual Fund, SA provides the opportunity for visual arts students to delve into the craft of ceramics as they learn Potter’s Wheel techniques. Scots have turned their love of pottery into an initiative called “Pottery for Poverty,” where they created pottery bowls, filled them with soup, and delivered them to people in need. While Scots see art as a tool for self-discovery, they also make art to make an impact.
