Saint Andrew's boys and girls tennis teams are back in the spotlight today at the FHSAA Class 1A State Championships in Seminole County, aiming to cement their status as Florida's premier programs.

The girls team enters the tournament with massive momentum after finishing second in the nation earlier this year, while the boys team is on a mission to reclaim the state title after a narrow runner-up finish last spring. Led by stars like Rafael Bote '27 and Isabella Gonzelez '29, the Scots have dominated regional play to earn their spot in the finals. The victories mark the 7th state title for the girls and the 6th for the boys since 2016.

Rafael Bote '27 made history at the FHSAA Class 1A state championships by capturing the elusive "Triple Crown." He led the Scots to a team state title while also sweeping the individual brackets, winning both the overall singles and overall doubles championships. It was a dominant performance that cemented his status as one of the premier high school players in Florida.

Coach Reid Rafter '85 was quoted in the article written by The Palm Beach Post's Marc Berman as saying, "The resolve of these kids was tremendous," Rafter said. "We started practice at 7:00 a.m., and we finished the finals at 8:00 p.m. To play that long and that hard in 90-degree heat and keep your level as high as they did is phenomenal."
