Saint Andrew’s Squash Team Finishes National Runner-Up at Nationals

The Saint Andrew's School squash team delivered another historic postseason performance, finishing as national runner-up at the 2026 U.S. High School Team Championships held February 20 - 22 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Competing against the top programs in the country for the third year in a row, the Scots battled their way to the championship match and came within a single point of capturing another national title.

Competing against the top high school programs in the country, the Scots opened tournament play with a commanding 6-1 victory over Phillips Exeter Academy in the Round of 16. They continued their dominant run in the quarterfinals, sweeping Dwight Global Online 7-0 to advance to the semifinals.

Awaiting Saint Andrew’s in the next round was a familiar powerhouse opponent, Brunswick School. The Scots delivered a decisive 5-2 win, marking another milestone in the programs’ ongoing rivalry, having defeated Brunswick three years ago and fallen to them in last year’s tournament.

In a thrilling championship match, Saint Andrew’s battled Hotchkiss School down to the final courts before narrowly falling in a 4-3 to finish second in the nation.

The team, led by Head Coach Wael El Hindi and Assistant Coach Charlie Houlton, featured a talented group of players, including Matteo Del Prete ’27, Omar Elkeiy ’27, Sami Garside ’26, Lars Gertsen ’27, Ryan Moadel ’27, Blakely Neren ’27, Bradford Talbot ’27, and Carlos Torres Vargas ’28. 

With another deep postseason run and a second-place national finish, Saint Andrew’s squash continues to solidify its reputation as one of the premier high school programs in the country.
