Saint Andrew’s School is thrilled to announce that freshman Lucas Gallego '28, Varsity Keeper for the school's soccer team, has been invited to represent the Belize National Team. This incredible opportunity comes after Lucas’ outstanding performance on the field, which earned him the prestigious call-up to join the national squad for two international friendlies in Honduras this week, followed by World Cup Qualifying matches in Mexico City.
Lucas, who has already made a name for himself as a key player on the Varsity Soccer team at Saint Andrew’s, will have the opportunity to compete at an international level against top-tier teams. His selection to the Belize National Team marks a significant milestone in his soccer career and speaks to his dedication, talent, and leadership as a goalkeeper.
The Belize Football Federation officially extended the invitation to Lucas, recognizing his exceptional skill set and potential. His participation in these international friendlies will allow him to showcase his abilities in front of an international audience, as well as contribute to his team’s efforts in the World Cup Qualifying matches in Mexico City.
“This is an incredible honor for Lucas and for our school,” said Lolo Abarca, Head Coach of Saint Andrew’s Varsity Soccer. “We are so proud of everything he has accomplished so far, and this opportunity to represent Belize on the international stage is a well-deserved recognition of his hard work and talent.”
Lucas’ journey serves as an inspiration to his teammates and peers at Saint Andrew’s School, demonstrating that with determination and focus, incredible opportunities can arise. His dedication to both the sport and his studies has set an example for others, and the Saint Andrew’s community is excited to follow his progress as he represents Belize at the global level.
The Saint Andrew’s School community wishes Lucas the best of luck in his international matches. We are confident he will continue to make a strong impact on the field, and we look forward to cheering him on as he makes his mark on the world stage.
