Boys Tennis Caps Stellar Season with State Finals Appearance and Individual Champion

2025 TENNIS RECAP

The Saint Andrew’s Boys Tennis team continued its remarkable run of success by advancing to the FHSAA State Championship for the sixth consecutive year. The team displayed outstanding resilience and skill throughout the competition.

In the quarterfinal round, the Scots swept PK Yonge 5-0, winning both doubles matches to set the tone early. Singles victories by Adrian Fente and Colin Wheat secured the team win, before Rafael Bote completed his match at No. 1 singles—a required step due to his concurrent participation in the individual tournament—emerging victorious in a strong performance.

The semifinal match against Holy Trinity Preparatory School proved more competitive, but Saint Andrew’s came through with a 4-2 win. One of the remaining matches was still in progress, with the Scots player serving for the match at 5-4, further underscoring the team's depth and tenacity. The victory advanced the team to the State Finals once again.

In the championship match, Saint Andrew’s faced a tough opponent in True North. Despite a valiant effort, the Scots fell 4-2. One unfinished match saw the Scots leading 5-3, 40-0 when play was halted. The clinching point came down to a third-set tiebreaker, showing just how close the contest truly was.

Individually, Rafael Bote shone throughout the tournament. After navigating three grueling matches leading up to the individual singles final, Bote delivered a dominant performance in the championship round, winning 6-2, 6-1 to claim the individual state title.

Congratulations to the entire team on a phenomenal season, and to Rafael Bote on his individual state championship!
