Our Distinguished Scholars demonstrate outstanding academic achievement by combining a superior GPA throughout a challenging middle school curriculum with highly competitive standardized test scores on the SSAT. The average SSAT score for the Distinguished Scholar Award recipients since the inception of the award is 90th percentile. Saint Andrew’s Distinguished Scholars are creative thinkers and problem solvers. They are honorable, respectful, responsible, and strive to be contributing members of their communities.

Award amounts vary, but can be up to and including full tuition.

If the Candidate’s financial need exceeds the amount covered by the scholarship, need-based aid awards may be available for those who qualify.

Distinguished Scholar awards are reviewed and renewed annually over four years; recipients are expected to maintain a positive record of behavior and performance.

Students repeating Grade 9 are not eligible.
Eligibility
- Students applying to Saint Andrew’s School for Grade 9.
- Current Saint Andrew’s School Grade 8 students rising to Grade 9.
- Students repeating Grade 9 are not eligible.
When to Apply for the Distinguished Scholar Award
We encourage all applicants who wish to be considered for the Distinguished Scholar Award to apply in the Early Application round.
- Awards will be offered to qualified candidates on December 17.
- Applications received after the Early Application round will continue to be considered on a funds-available basis.
How to Apply for the Distinguished Scholar Award
For Students Applying for Grade 9:
1. Submit an Admission Application
Candidates must complete the admission application process through our online application portal.
2. Complete the Application Checklist
After submitting the application and fee, families should log back into the portal to complete the checklist items. One of these items will be the Distinguished Scholar Form.
3. Testing Requirements
Applicants must take the SSAT to be considered for the Distinguished Scholar Award. Applicants who do not take the SSAT, you will not be eligible for consideration. Be sure to designate Saint Andrew’s School as a score recipient. Only one test is required.

- November 23, 2025 - Early Application testing deadline
- January 3, 2026 - Regular Application testing deadline

The Boarding Scholar Award
The Boarding Scholar Award (BSA) is a merit-based scholarship for boarding students applying to grades 9 - 11. The Boarding Scholar Award will be given to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement by combining a strong grade-point average (GPA) throughout middle school and high school with highly competitive standardized test scores on the SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, SAT, and ACT. Awards are limited, and the applicant pool is competitive.

All boarding applications will be automatically considered for the Boarding Scholar Awards. Recipients are expected to maintain a strong academic record and be a positive member of the Saint Andrew’s community.

All Boarding Scholar Award recipients will be notified via email with their admission decision.
