Before School

I live about 40 minutes away from school. When I arrive, I typically find my friends and just hang out, but some Fridays I have MS SASSA (Middle School Saint Andrew’s School Student Ambassadors) club right before school.

A DAY

A Block - World Cultures
World Cultures with Ms. Yash is really fun. In world cultures, we are learning about Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Ancient India, and many other ancient civilizations. We also study geography and learn where many countries and other landmarks are. In addition, we prepare for Socratic discussions and learn how to collect research from reputable sources.

C Block - Orchestra
In orchestra, we learn many skills, such as hopping fingers and walking fingers. We also learn many different songs, such as "Fiddling Around" and "Ode to Joy". Orchestra with Mr. Berger and Ms. Ruby is really fun.

Advisory
On Tuesdays and Fridays, I have 40 minutes of advisory, during which we can eat snacks, do homework, and check in with Ms. Lee for any announcements. Sometimes we have Scots Connect, where we discuss different topics.

Each week we attend the Middle school assembly on Mondays, and Chapel on Thursdays. We don’t have advisory on Wednesdays because it is an early-release day. Ms. Lee is a really fun advisor who has guided my whole advisory on being organised and prepared for school days.

Lunch Block (Lunch followed by FLEX)

E Block - Math 7 Honors
I have math class with Ms. Surrusco. This year, we have learned about function graphs, slopes, formulas, and many more topics. We have homework that we can normally do in class if we finish our work, and the teacher explains the topics in many ways so we can understand them. Ms. Surrusco is an amazing math teacher!

G Block - French Year 1
I’ve started learning French this year. We have had projects where we make posters and slides in Canva, and we have fun activities to learn new vocabulary. We just learned about how to explain where each of our classes are and if we like them or not. French with Ms. Platzek has been really fun!

B DAY

B Block - Science 6
Science has been great this year with Mr.Herr. We have learned about space and geology, and now we are learning about scientific theories. We are doing experiments in groups, and mine is about how different plants grow with fertilizers at different NPK levels (Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K)).

D Block - English 6
This year, I have English with Mrs. Longman. At the beginning of the year, we read Fish in a Tree. Next, we learned about Greek mythology and created our own 6-sentence original myths. We are about to start reading City of Ember. English with Mrs. Longman is very fun!

Lunch Block (Lunch followed by FLEX)
At lunch, we have about 30 minutes to eat. There are many food options every day. There is normally pizza, plain pasta, and grilled chicken every day, and there is also a special lunch that changes daily, which is delicious. There is also a yogurt station, a sandwich station, a salad station, a soup station, and always a drink station. Lunch is a time when we get to sit with our friends and spend time together, which is really fun.

After lunch, we have flex. During flex, I usually go to the library to finish homework or play board games, and other times to talk to Ms. Martin-Gull, the librarian, about a project or practice for the Battle of the Books, which I joined because I love reading. However, sometimes I go to the gym and the field where I can play volleyball, soccer, or just hang out with my friends.

F Block - Design 6
In my design class with Ms. Gorora, we are learning to fly drones. We learn to code, we plan a mission and sketch our path, and we are going to write code for the drone to move from point A to point B. My mission is a search and rescue of a dog, and I will create tiny stores, cars, and even a golf course where the drone can go through them to find the dog. Ms. Gorora is super nice, and her class is a lot of fun.

In the first trimester, I had world religion with Rev. Taylor. We learned about many religions and did projects on each one. For Buddhism, we even meditated, and at the end, we created a shrine and a crest with things that were important to us, and one that showed something from each religion. Rev. Taylor was a really fun teacher!

In the second trimester, I had art class with Ms. Parrish. We did some crochet, beading, and painting, but what I liked the most was felting. I felt tons of stuff, I felted a tiny cake, a gingerbread man with a tiny beard, a cat, a peppermint, a tiny giraffe, and at the end I made a giant squid with ink. Art was amazing and so much fun.

H Block  - Physical Health Education 6
P.E. with Coach Hart is really fun, and we have done many different sports this year. We started the year with yoga, then swimming and basketball, then lacrosse, kickball, and speedball, and now we are doing tennis. I’m really excited because we are having a trimester where we do a lot of sports.

After School

After school I almost always stay at school for a club, In the beginning of the year I started doing the musical, also I had board game club which I like a lot because I get just to play games with my friends,  now I have battle of the books on tuesdays and thusdays which is really fun, and I have sometimes viola lessons with Ms. Ruby where I have learned more advanced songs that we haven't learned in class. I will also join the drama club with Ms. Ascroft on Thursdays, and in the last sports season, I will be joining golf, which I'm really excited about.
