Before School
Since I live in Boca Raton, I have a nice, short 10-minute drive to school. My mom drives my twin sister and me to school, and our dogs usually come along for the ride. I spend the morning talking with my friends. If I need help with an assignment, I can get extra help or attend the ambassadors club before my first class of the day.
A DAY
A Block - Algebra I Honors
I am in Algebra 1 honors with Mr. Roze. We are currently learning how to factor with exponents. I sit with my friends from the class, and we often help each other learn new things.
C Block - Physical Health Education 7
I have one of the three middle school PHE teachers, Coach Robertson. We are currently playing badminton, which is a new sport for me, and it’s really fun. Our final for this unit will be refereeing a game. My favorite unit so far has been rock climbing on the school’s rock wall.
Advisory
After my first two classes of the day, I get to go to Ms. Goroa’s advisory. Every Monday, we walk to our Middle School Assembly together. On Tuesdays, we do Scots Connect, where we do lessons and discuss values to help support our community. On Thursdays, we attend the Chapel together. On Fridays, my advisor helps me catch up on missing work, and sometimes I get time to just connect with my friends in the advisory.
E Block - Science 7
Mr. Bello is my science teacher. I am working on a catapult as part of the physics unit. We do a lot of STEM-related challenges, which are a lot of fun!
Lunch Block (Lunch followed by FLEX)
G Block - Advanced Literature & Composition 7
I always look forward to walking into Ms. Moylan’s classroom. When we sit down, we do a “sentence surgery” warm-up, then hop into the day's activity. We’re currently working on an essay about how people have impacted Florida and Florida has impacted people.
B DAY
B Block - Design 7
Design is a lot of fun, and I enjoy being creative with our game-making unit; I’m creating my own game, pieces, and rules.
In the first half of the year, I had art. Ms. Parrish is a great teacher and gives us tips and help, but we are in control of what we create. I started the year making stop-motion animation and then moved on to creating action figures.
D Block - Theatre 7
I am in theatre with Ms. Ascroft. In this class, we are working on our Spring Celebration of Theatre; we are performing a scene and song from Aladdin. We are also working on a project about how theatre is different across cultures.
F Block - Spanish Year 2
I take Spanish with Mrs. Pin, and she spends a lot of time making sure we understand the language and feel comfortable in the class. Right now we are learning vocabulary related to clothes and weather.
Lunch Block (Lunch followed by FLEX)
Lunch is a time to hang out with friends and enjoy the great meals Sage Dining prepares for us. After lunch, we have flex, where you can go to the library to hang out and play games, or to the field to run around. I bounce back and forth depending on how I’m feeling that day.
H Block - Foundations of Government
Foundations of Government with Ms. Alise is just as it sounds. We learn about different forms of government. We are currently learning about the U.S. Constitution and breaking it down to really understand what it means today. My favorite unit was the finance unit, where we learned important topics that will help us as we grow up.
After School
After school, I usually go home and take a brain break. I spend about 1-2 hours on my homework, then do my chores around the house. For the past two years, I have acted in the Middle School Musical from October to January, and it has been a really fun experience where I have met many new friends. Since the musical has ended, I now have Drama Club on Thursdays after school. I also participate in flag football outside of school.
