Tammy Friedman joined Saint Andrew’s in August of 1992 as a Middle
School English teacher and drama director and transitioned to an Upper
School English position in 1999. In addition to teaching English, Tammy
served as a Grade Chair for five years, overseeing the academic
schedules for students in grades 9 – 11. As a member of the CGO, she is
excited to continue her work with students beyond the junior year and
through the college advising and application process. Drawing upon her
20+ years of experience teaching English, Tammy is eager to engage
with students about their writing, particularly in the area of college
application essays. She earned a B.A. in Literature and Rhetoric from
Binghamton University (SUNY), an M.A.T. in English Education from The
College of New Jersey, and a certificate in Fundamentals of College
Counseling through Rice University. Tammy and her husband Steve are
parents to Hayley, Eric, and Becca (’22), who has been a Scot since she
began in SA’s inaugural JK class in 2008.
