Distinguished Scholar Award Details
  • Awards will range from $5,000 to $20,000 per year.
  • Available to any student applying to Saint Andrew’s School for grade 9 and to current Saint Andrew’s Grade 8 students.
  • Only day students may apply.
  • Candidates must complete the Distinguished Scholar Award application by February 1, 2017. Non-Saint Andrew’s Middle School students must also complete the Application for Admission by February 1, 2017.
  • If the Candidate’s financial need exceeds the amount not covered by the scholarship, “need based” aid awards may be available.
  • Distinguished Scholar Awards will be reviewed in each of the subsequent three years and will be renewed provided the student maintains a positive record of behavior and academic performance.

Distinguished Scholar Requirements
  • Distinguished Scholars have a GPA of 3.5 or above for the entire grade 7 year and the first trimester or semester of grade 8 and will not earn any grade below a B for those two years.
  • Distinguished Scholars score in the 85th percentile or above on the Total Score of the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).
  • Distinguished Scholars are creative thinkers who can solve problems and adapt to new challenges to be successful in college and life. They are globally minded.
  • Distinguished Scholars are involved in their community in a variety of programs that may include participation in the arts, athletics, community service, clubs, and student government.
  • Distinguished Scholars are honorable, respectful and responsible. They represent the School's commitment to fostering integrity and to teaching and promoting honor and trust within our community.
How to Apply
  • Candidate submits the Distinguished Scholar Award Information Form to initiate the application process.
  • A non-family member (and someone other than the English, Math, and Headmaster or Guidance Counselor who completes normal admission recommendation forms) submits the Distinguished Scholar Award Nomination Letter in support of the applicant. This may be a teacher, coach, instructor, clergy member, or family friend.
  • Candidate must take the SSAT in either October 2016, November 2016, December 2016, or January 2017 and indicate Saint Andrew’s School as a score recipient.
  • Official transcripts for 7th and 8th grades must be sent directly from the candidate’s school to the Saint Andrew’s School Enrollment Office.
  • All application materials for the Distinguished Scholar Award and regular admission must be submitted by February 1, 2017.

*Distinguished Scholar Award finalists will be required to return to our Boca Raton, Florida campus in February for an interview with members of our Upper School Administration and Admission Office to determine award recipients.
