Advanced Placement

Saint Andrew’s AP courses are designed to meet the College Board’s stringent curricular guidelines. Enrollment is limited to students who have proven themselves capable of truly outstanding performance in demanding course work. After careful review of past performance, motivation, test scores, and teacher recommendations, students are invited to enroll in AP courses.

The High School Academic Committee recommends sophomores take only one AP course, juniors take only three AP courses, and seniors take only four AP courses. Honors courses are available in most disciplines at various grade levels. Students are invited to enroll in honors level courses upon recommendation of the particular department. All students who take an AP course are required to take the AP examination.

In 2015, 237 students took 595 AP examinations administered in 25 different subjects. Eighty percent (80%) received a score of 3 or higher and 58% received a score of 4 or 5. Since 2011, Saint Andrew’s School has produced 152 AP Scholars, 99 AP Scholars with Honor, 213 AP Scholars with Distinction, 58 National AP Scholars, and an AP International Diploma recipient.
