    Junior Class College Night

    Roberts Theater
Please mark your calendars for you and your child to attend a program sponsored by the College Guidance Office on Tuesday, January 13 at 6:30 pm in the Roberts Theater, The Andrews Center for the Performing Arts.  This year at our annual
Junior College Night we will feature a “Mock Admissions Committee” event.  We have invited college admissions deans from institutions such as:  Boston College, Tufts University, FAU Honors, Lafayette College, Indiana University, Texas Christian University, Emory University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Providence College, Bates College and the Universities of Miami, Florida and Virginia.  The deans will lead admissions committee meetings where you will actively take part as a member in a small group setting.

A mock admissions committee gives you and your child the roles of committee members at a fictitious college, allowing you to decide who is accepted and who is not. Through your work on the mock admissions committee, led by one of the admissions deans attending, you will gain insights as to what it takes to come out ahead in the competitive college admissions process. You will learn the techniques that help make applicants successful which will also help you, as a student, plan your high school education.  Through the program students will also learn how to highlight their unique qualities and write successful applications.

We will be sending the mock applications to you in advance in order to give you time to read and prepare your notes for your admission committee discussion.  Please mark your calendar for January 13 to learn more about preparing for the competitive college and university admission process.  We look forward to seeing you then.

State of the School - Vision 2020

    Roberts Theater
Over the last two school years we have been developing our current Strategic Plan and coalescing our leadership team. The process has been inclusive, intentionally calling upon students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, administration, and trustees.

    • Internally, we collected invaluable feedback from a thorough survey process, and we listened carefully at two community-wide strategic planning events held in April and in November of 2013.
    • Externally, we examined outside forces, such as educational, economic, demographic, and technological trends and issues that will affect independent schools in the years ahead.
    • The result of these comprehensive efforts is Vision 2020: Honor. Imagine. Inspire – a plan for the future of Saint Andrew's School.

This new Strategic Plan articulates four main goals that will enable the school to achieve our bold vision for…

a unified academic community unparalleled in inspiring students to lead honorable lives of purpose and take on limitless opportunities to impact the world.

Simply put, Vision 2020 charts a path forward for Saint Andrew’s to lead.  To that end, we invite you to come learn about the current state of the school, as well as our strategic roadmap toward continuous progress.  We have two identical events planned (one in the morning and one in the evening), and we hope you will save the date:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2015 at 8:30 am or 7:00 pm, ROBERTS THEATER

Please consider attending one of these opportunities and learn about improvements for the 2015-2016 school year, as well as preview the programs and ideas that are under consideration for ensuing years.  We look forward to sharing the vision.

MS Grade 8 Field Trip - Wings of Freedom Tour

    Boca Raton Airport
GRADE 8 FIELD TRIP – WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR
On January 23, 2015, our eighth grade students will have the opportunity to visit the Boca Raton Airport to see the World War II Wings of Freedom Tour. Our students will be able to take a tour of the bombers, while hearing about history from WW II from our local Veterans. This event is a great way for students to hear firsthand accounts from soldiers of the war and tour actual bombers that played a key part in the war. Students will also have an opportunity to give face-to-face words of appreciation to our veterans for their service and another perspective on the cost of war.  We will be leaving around 9:30 and returning to campus just before lunch.  Students are asked to dress in Spirit Dress – red polo shirts and khaki shorts/skirts that day.  Please return the attached permission slip to your child’s homeroom teacher or the Middle School Office no later than Friday, January 16, 2015.  We are looking forward to this event.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Mulligan at liz.mulligan@saintandrews.net or the Middle School Office.
