Courses Offered

A Curriculum that Fosters Creative Thinking

At Saint Andrews, we believe that students must learn to be creative thinkers who can solve problems and adapt to new challenges in order to be successful in college and in life. Our Upper School students benefit from an extensive and academically rigorous array of course offerings, including an Honors Program, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB).

The Upper School core curriculum includes year-long courses in English, mathematics, foreign languages, history, and science as well as other courses in computer science, arts, theology, and public speaking. We have an average class size of 15 students in the Upper School which helps our faculty develop a close rapport with our students.

Saint Andrews is unique in its commitment to bringing a global emphasis to our core curriculum. In 2010, we joined the global ranks of International Baccalaureate (IB) schools and joined Round Square, a worldwide association of more than 100 schools on five continents. We host boarders from 25 different countries and provide access to international exchanges, service projects and travel as an extension of our Upper School experience.

Opportunities to Find Balance

We believe that balance is critical to a healthy and successful education and we offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities for our Upper School students to explore their passions, including:
  • Athletics. Our Athletic Department offers a wide range of sports for our Upper School students, including football, track, swimming, lacrosse, cross country and volleyball.
  • Arts. Our Fine Arts Department provides opportunities for students to participate in many different types of visual and performing arts, including chorus, dance, photography, graphic design and symphony.
  • Student organizations, clubs, and associations. We offer an extensive array of clubs, organizations and associations for our Upper school students, including the Bagpiper (our school newspaper), Mu Alpha Theta (math club), Junior Achievement and Model United Nations, Robotics, Model Congress, Speech & Debate and our literary magazine. There are plenty of opportunities for students to take on leadership roles through student council, student think tanks and steering committees at the school.
  • Social events. We also hold numerous events during the year, including Scots Spirit Day, Homecoming Weekend, Winterfest, the Junior/Senior Prom and the springtime Highland games.
Cum Laude Society. The Cum Laude Society, a national independent school honor society, was established at Saint Andrew's School in 1968. Membership in the Society is the highest academic honor awarded by the school. At commencement, seniors who have been elected to membership are designated as graduating "cum laude," with praise.
A non-profit, independent, co-educational school for Grades JK - 12, Saint Andrew's School is both a private day and boarding school located in Boca Raton, educating the best students from across Palm Beach County, Florida, the United States, and throughout the world in the Episcopal tradition.
