Our goal in the Lower School is to open a new world of learning for our students to help them grow in mind, body and spirit.
A Curriculum that Fosters Creative Thinking
At Saint Andrews, we believe that the need to foster creative thinking in our students starts at a young age and our Lower School curriculum reflects this belief. We are committed to providing two experienced teachers in each Lower School classroom as well as specialists in areas such as performing arts, technology, science and foreign languages.
Our Lower School students participate in the IB Primary Years Programme which focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
The Nina & Edgar Otto Lower School Campus (which includes the Moabery Early Learning Center) is a leading-edge facility that was designed especially to meet the needs of younger students.
Opportunities for Finding Balance
Our Lower School students are able to balance their classroom learning with opportunities to try new things and explore the world, including:
The annual Lower School musical. In recent years, students in grades 3 through 5 have performed in Cinderella, Peter Pan and Aladdin.
After-school Enrichment. These classes vary each session but focus on everything from Lego robotics to Pep Club.
International Travel Program. Students in fourth and fifth grade and their parents have the opportunity to participate in an International Travel Program during Spring Break. This past year, the group visited China.
Fifth Grade “Wilderness Trip.” This wilderness excursion to the Gulf Coast of Florida is designed to build confidence, support self-esteem and develop resourcefulness in our students as they prepare for Middle School.
Beyond the Bell. Beyond the Bell is our after care program available from 3:30 pm until 5:45 pm which gives students the opportunity to participate in Homework Help, socialize with friends or engage in structured play.
Experiences that Build Strong Character
At Saint Andrews, we believe in “honor above all” and that Lower school is a critical time to begin laying the foundation for strong character. Our Honor Code teaches students to be honorable, respectful, and responsible young people. Other character-building activities include a 5th grade leadership group, service projects, safety patrol and opportunities to mentor junior kindergarten students.
A non-profit, independent, co-educational school for Grades JK - 12, Saint Andrew's School is both a private day and boarding school located in Boca Raton, educating the best students from across Palm Beach County, Florida, the United States, and throughout the world in the Episcopal tradition.
