Saint Andrew's Swim School Selected by USA Swimming Foundation as Make a Splash Grant Recipient

Saint Andrew's Swim School was selected as one of 9 learn to swim providers in Florida to receive up to $5,000 in grant monies from the USA Swimming Foundation, thanks to a generous donation from Bealls Department Stores. Saint Andrew's Swim School is recognized as a “Make a Splash Local Partner,” one of over 210 providers across the nation who has committed to the USA Swimming Foundation’s goal of helping provide the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim.
So far Saint Andrew's Swim School taught hundreds of kids to swim in 2010. While SA Swim School has been teaching children to swim since 2005, the program has been a Local Partner since 2009. Since then, over 50 children of lower-income families have gone through the program and are now more water safe.
“Our Make a Splash Local Partners make a difference by taking tangible action to advance the Make a Splash mission,” said Chris LaBianco, Chief Development Officer for the USA Swimming Foundation. “Local partners including Saint Andrew's Swim School help us expand our reach across the country, and potentially save lives.”
With the grant, SA Swim School will expand the ability to teach kids to swim by providing swimsuits to the needy, and other equipment, plus offering scholarships to other youth centers that serve lower-income families in the area.
“We are extremely excited to be a part of the Make a Splash initiative,” said Kara Cassidy of Saint Andrew’s Swim School. “As a recipient of the grant monies, our program will now be able to help save lives by ensuring children become more water safe.”
