In the final artist in residence program for the Lower School this year, Friends of the Arts (FOA) is pleased that Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten and first grade students will enjoy working with children's book illustrator Robin Brickman next week. Ms. Brickman's unique illustrations use paper, scissors, color and glue. She hand shapes the paper into 3-D images that often seam real!

The focus of this residency will be the creation of a community mural located in the lobby outside the Hammond Library and will be based on the book One Night in the Coral Sea. The children have been read this story and are preparing for her visit. After an assembly where the illustrator shares some of her current work and demonstrates her method, each class will attend workshops where they will create their own pieces to contribute to the community mural.

Parents are invited to attend a parent presentation with their children on Wednesday, April 14 in the Weprin Family Student Center at 7:30am to hear from Ms. Brickman and to view the completed mural project. Please be sure to look for the mural as it is created by our youngest students this week!
