The Lower School students in 4A read the story Boss of the Plains by author Laurie Carlson. This a story about John Stetson and how his famous hat was created. To get a sense of what the “Wild West” was all about, students watched a video clip from the old John Wayne movie The Dawn Rider. As a final enrichment activity the students made their own cowboy “Stetson” hat from just two pieces of newspaper and masking tape.
