Visual Arts
The goals of the Visual Arts Department are designed to compel students to think in a creative manner and expand their range of experience while developing an intellectual awareness of the visual arts. Students develop the essential skills within the many areas of the visual arts enabling them to appreciate and understand the visual arts, to appreciate aesthetics, to refine their level of creativity, to develop a disciplined work ethic, and to inspire active participation in the learning process.
The Visual Arts Department utilizes diverse approaches to impart knowledge and experience enabling students to become creative, responsible, and knowledgeable in the various areas of the visual arts. The educational process begins in the Lower School, and is built upon in the Middle School into the Upper School; the essential skills are introduced, reinforced, and mastered throughout the students' time at Saint Andrew's School. The visual arts program encourages students to become confident in their creative abilities and to respect the creative endeavors of others through exposure to historical and contemporary works of art and frequent public exhibitions of their artworks throughout the campus and the community at large.
